Here's a few ideas we've shared to kick off more brainstorming:

kids exchange empty eggs for prizes
golden eggs with special prizes
some really big memorable prizes
various levels of difficulty for ages: sack race, crawl, crabwalk, three-legged, blindfolded, pick up with spoons,
